Become a Virtual Assistant Business Babysitter

It is coming to that holiday time again. Small business owners are looking to go on holiday leaving their business where?

It could be ruining their holiday as they worry for the duration what is going on

It could be ruining their holiday as they spend it with a laptop (I have even seen this on the beach)

It could be ruining their holiday as they spend it in an Internet cafe.

There is a simple solution, the Virtual Assistant Business Babysitter. I have been doing this for years for my clients and some one-off projects for very new businesses while the owner travels.

I am currently working as a Spam Deleter for a client. All I do is bring up her mail in Mailwasher, delete the garbage and answer any mails as her VA while she gets a rest. Charging a per minute charge means that the invoice is a pleasant surprise.

Normal VABB work involves answering phones, handling e-mail and faxes and dealing with clients directly but the service can be as large or as small as you wish. Some clients move over to this for permanent support as their business grows.

It is time for Virtual Assistants to put on their marketing hats and contact their clients old and new. Offer this service to them. Check what you did for the client and write an e-mail specifically to their needs. Produce a flyer and give it out when you go to networking meetings. With business cards so cheap if bought via the Internet, have some special ones created for holiday periods (which is a good part of the year). Add it to your signature, Sally Jones VA, Business Babysitter. I even did one with a cartoon figure of a mother and child from the Microsoft bean family. Have a calendar put on the reverse of the card and the client will probably keep the card for the calendar and every time they use it they are reminded of your service.

Charging for work such as this can be difficult.

If you have to be in your office all day to cover calls, charge a weekly retainer

If you just have to check mails and other matters once a day, charge as you would normally

Dont forget to add all ancillary charges such as outgoing calls, postage etc.

You need to start promoting this as early as possible and make a habit of doing so. When are the school holidays as that is when most SOHO owners take their breaks. Are there set spring and autumn times when you notice your clients go away?

Marketing such as this, is one step in the arsenal of your 'Virtual Assistant Business Marketing Plan'. If you make a promise to your business to undertake one marketing step a week you will quickly build your business. Organise your marketing and note in your diary when the Business Babysitting flyers should be given or sent out. Try to make marketing an important part of your business lifestyle.

Obviously today I had write an article in my diary.

Now what do I do when I go on holiday, well I get a Virtual Assistant to Babysit my business.
